In celebration of National Careers Week, Lambeth Council, alongside Lambeth Made, BeLambeth, and the Lambeth Schools Careers Network, proudly hosted the Next Steps Lambeth – All Schools Careers Fair—an inspiring and dynamic event that welcomed over 2,000 students from across Lambeth!

Aimed primarily at Year 10 pupils taking their first steps into the world of careers, this fair provided a unique opportunity for young people to explore a variety of industries, engage with leading employers, and gain firsthand insights into potential career paths.

A Day of Opportunities & Inspiration

Students had the chance to connect with major employers and educational & training providers, including Amazon UK, Breyer Group, Orchard Hill College, and Trash GXNG, among many others. These interactions allowed them to explore different sectors, ask questions, and discover pathways into employment, apprenticeships, and higher education.

The event was further supported by an incredible lineup of multitalented guest speakers who shared their journeys, advice, and inspiration, including:

  • Kheron Gilpin
  • Jae Chabala (Spotify)
  • Matt Williams (University of Oxford)

The Next Steps Lambeth Careers Fair was more than just an event—it was a catalyst for ambition. By providing direct access to industry leaders and educational & training providers, it empowered young people with the knowledge and confidence to explore their futures

Voices from the Day

Ruth Coyle, Director at La Retraite:
"We are here today with our T-Level stand. T-Levels are the equivalent of 3 A-Levels with a 45-day industry placement. Our digital students work with Lloyds and Amazon, our health students work with Guys & St Thomas', and our construction students work with companies such as Berkeley’s and so on. Come and find out more at our open day in July."

Alijah, Receptionist at Care UK:
"This event today has been really good and very beneficial for the students. A lot of them didn’t know what they wanted to do, but after hearing about all the different options we had to offer, I think it was very enlightening for them, and they took a lot from it."

A huge thank you to all the schools, employers, and guest speakers who made this event an outstanding success! We look forward to continuing to support Lambeth’s young people on their career journeys.

The future starts now—what’s your next step?
