Working Together to Strengthen Young People’s Futures
On Friday 23 October 2026, the Lambeth Schools Careers Network (LSCN) brought together Careers Leaders and partner organisations at the Old Vic to discuss how to strengthen careers education and improve progression opportunities for young people across Lambeth.
The Autumn meeting covered a range of priorities, including post-16 transitions, participation, inclusive SEND pathways and the importance of helping young people make informed decisions about education, training and employment.
Discovering Careers Beyond the Stage
A highlight of the meeting was a session on careers in theatre and the creative industries, hosted by the Old Vic. Careers Leaders took part in a theatre tour and technical demonstration, gaining insight into the variety of roles involved in bringing productions to life.
The session highlighted opportunities beyond performing, including technical, production and backstage careers. It also demonstrated the value of connecting schools with employers and cultural organisations to help young people discover career paths they may not have previously considered.
Supporting Inclusive Careers Education
The network also explored Lambeth’s Creative Passport for Children and Young People, alongside discussions on quality in careers education, the Gatsby Benchmarks and the 2026/27 Lambeth Made school programmes.
Further sessions focused on inclusive SEND pathways, transitions into adulthood, parent engagement and the support young people need when progressing beyond Year 11.
Discussions also covered participation, destinations and post-16 opportunities, including pathways available through South Bank Colleges.
Building Stronger Partnerships Across Lambeth
By bringing schools, education providers, employers and services together, the Lambeth Schools Careers Network provides a forum to share knowledge, discuss challenges and strengthen collaboration around careers education.
The Autumn meeting reinforced the importance of early intervention, employer engagement and inclusive guidance to help young people access opportunities and prepare for their futures.
