Helping Families Navigate the Next Steps
More than 200 parents and carers attended the Next Steps Lambeth Parents’ Information Evening on Thursday 22 October at Lambeth Town Hall, highlighting strong interest in the education, training and career opportunities available to young people.
The event brought together 30 organisations and services, providing families with information, advice and guidance to help them understand the different pathways available after Year 11.
Exploring Education, Training and Employment
With growing demand for information about apprenticeships, colleges and sixth forms, the event gave parents and carers the opportunity to explore progression routes and ask questions about their young person's future.
Interactive workshops helped families navigate the post-16 landscape, covering options including:
-
Sixth forms, colleges and university pathways.
-
Apprenticeships and routes into employment.
-
Supported internships and opportunities for young people with SEND.
-
Additional support during transitions into further education, training and work.
Supporting Young People to Move Forward
The strong attendance and engagement demonstrated the importance of accessible information and guidance for families as young people make decisions about their futures.
Parents and carers valued the opportunity to speak directly with education providers, employers and support services in one place, helping them better understand the options available to support their young people's ambitions.
By bringing organisations together, Next Steps Lambeth helped families explore opportunities, ask questions and feel more informed about the next steps available to young people.
