Published 30 May 2025 by BeLambeth
On 22 May 2025, Lambeth Council proudly welcomed 40 employers from Living Wage Local Action Groups across London and the UK to the Living Wage Foundation Places Conference – a major moment for collaboration, learning, and action on fair pay.
What is a Living Wage Place?
The Living Wage Foundation recognises areas that are driving real change by expanding Living Wage accreditation. There are currently 16 recognised Living Wage Places in the UK – and Lambeth is on the journey to becoming one of them.
What happened at the conference?
The day was packed with learning, practical insights, and shared success stories. Key activities included:
- Action Group Carousel – exchanging strategies, successes, and lessons learned
- Case studies and data insights from the UK network
- Expert-led press and communications training
- Employer examples of embedding the Living Wage into procurement and planning
"There’s fantastic energy in the room. Leaders are sharing learning and insights on how to grow the Living Wage movement — from communications to procurement. It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other."
— Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation
From Lambeth Council:
“Lambeth Council is on a journey to become a Living Wage Place, a recognition awarded to areas that tackle in-work poverty by making the Living Wage a norm.”
— Cllr Marcia Cameron, Cabinet Member for Economic Inclusion
The event affirmed Lambeth’s commitment to building a more equitable, inclusive economy – where fair pay is not the exception, but the standard.
