Lambeth Immigration Advice Service 2024-2026

The long-term economic impacts of Covid-19 on residents and current cost of living crisis is at the forefront of key priorities for the Council, with economic scarring likely to be long-term. Recognising the importance of access to immigration advice for residents experiencing immigration-related challenges, Lambeth Council is offering a grant award for 16 months of immigration-related advice, from 1 December 2024 through 31st March 2026.

While the Council aims to shift the balance of our advice provision towards prevention and early intervention, we know that unprecedented numbers of residents need help and support to manage existing and often complex issues. High-quality, professional immigration advice plays a key role in supporting residents resolve their immigration status, and with that address challenges of social and financial exclusion. It assists residents whose legal status is yet to be determined, to exercise their rights and understand their obligations. It also helps residents get the support they need to update or formalise their immigration status via transitions to an e-visa. As such, the provision of immigration advice is a critical factor in delivering key strategic outcomes from Lambeth 2030: Our Future, Our Borough of Making Lambeth a Place We Can All Call Home and improving the financial resilience of residents. Lambeth’s ambition is also to seek re-accreditation as a borough of sanctuary – as we continue to welcome people sanctuary seekers here.
