After delivering an Information, Advice and Guidance session at Photofusion (Lambeth provider), to a group who had finished their course about Connecting Communities and the employment/training support we can provide; Teresa provided her details, and an appointment was made, and she was registered onto the provision. She also produces a podcast on a voluntary basis, where she has gained knowledge about behind-the-scenes production.
Teresa wanted to venture down the events and marketing sector, where she was provided with continuous support via 1-1s from CV support; addressing the format/layout of tailored Event Management CVs and through the employment emails, I send; she applied for a role as a Youth Worker via Lambeth Council. However, her focus was on the world of events, but she needed a role to get some money coming in. She applied for a role as a teaching assistant via an agency, but it was not for her, and she then sourced a role with an organisation with a social value/impact at the heart of the company.
She sent me the job description and through analysis, I managed to source several links to support her with her interview from Q/A links to YouTube videos to support her. This helped her with her confidence and via preparation, caused her anxiety and nerves to be controlled. She secured employment as a Creative Programme Assistant (Internship); learning so much about the business, developing her knowledge and skill set. Teresa has also started speaking to management about other roles within the organisation, which she wishes to apply for.
Teresa is enjoying the role immensely and is learning so much; she was provided with financial assistance, which she greatly appreciates. Plus, the link between Lambeth Adult Learning and Connecting Communities has shown the collaboration between these provisions and putting the residents at the centre to provide employment and training support, leading to success and sustainable outcomes from a personal and professional perspective.
