On Friday 29 August 2025, Lambeth Town Hall hosted the graduation ceremony for this year’s Net Zero Contractors Challenge, a programme delivered in partnership with Construction Youth Trust. The initiative gives young people hands-on experience in trades such as insulation, low-carbon construction, and plumbing, while connecting them with real employers and industry professionals.
Throughout August, participants took part in live site visits, practical trade tasters, 1-to-1 employment support, CSCS training, and gained direct access to jobs and apprenticeships. The graduation was a chance for young people to celebrate their achievements and network with employers including Lee Marley Brickwork and Berkeley Group.
As Hannah Mu, Future Skills Manager at Berkeley St Edward, shared: “I really enjoyed taking part in the Contractors Challenge this year and am so excited to see how the young people do on their placements at Oval Village.”
One Lambeth participant reflected: “I like the opportunities that’ve been introduced to me and I’ve learned a lot about Net Zero and construction which I will use in the future. I’m very appreciative of everyone who helped me. Thank you.”
The Net Zero Contractors Challenge is part of Lambeth’s commitment to helping young people build future-ready skills while contributing to a greener, more sustainable community.
