What is an apprenticeship?

These jobs allow you to get your foot in the door of your chosen industry and gain experience and training in everything from engineering to hospitality via careers in the arts.
It can take 1-6 years to complete an apprenticeship, depending on which one you choose, what level it is, and your previous experience.

How do they work?
To become an apprentice, you must:
- be 16 or over
- not already be in full-time education
There are hundreds of apprenticeships to choose from, and they all let you learn and work at the same time.
You'll be employed by a company and receive practical, hands-on training in the workplace.
By working alongside experienced professionals, you'll gain valuable skills, knowledge, and industry-specific expertise.
In addition to on-the-job training, you'll spend at least 20% of your time attending classes or training sessions as you work towards a recognised qualification directly related to your chosen field.
There are several apprenticeship levels available

Intermediate | 2 | GCSE |
Advanced | 3 | A Level |
Higher | 4, 5, 6 & 7 | Foundation degree and above |
Degree | 6 & 7 | Bachelor's or master's degree |
